IN CHARACTER

Character Name: Danny Rand.

Canon Point: Luke Cage, Season 2 episode 10.

In-Game Tattoo Placement: Back of hand.
Current Health/Status: Peak health, no injuries or illnesses.
Age: 26.
Species: Human.

History: Can be read here.

Personality:

  • First and foremost, Danny is optimistic. He likes to believe the best in people, which isn't so odd when one takes into account that his life stopped and restarted at a young age. Despite his strict upbringing, he maintains his childlike innocence when it comes to his view of the world. He believes people should help others, that you should always assume the best intentions in everyone, and that Good will inevitably always come out on top.

  • He is (a little infuriatingly) friendly. His approach to people is not unlike that of a puppy. New people in his life are immediately potential new friends, and he's not afraid to push that on them. Having never had many friends in his life, he's opportunistic when he seeks out those relationships. His naivety about the way the world works means that it's not uncommon for him to overstep his bounds, nor is it uncommon for him to not recognize that he has.

  • Unsurprisingly, Danny is a kind person. His openness and the trust he places in those around him makes him a giving person, both in his personal life and his professional life. To Danny, a homeless man on the street is no different than the secretary sitting in his office. He goes out of his way to help those who need it, from paying someone's rent for them to flying across the world to save people's lives. Danny embodies the spirit of doing things because it's the right thing to do, and because he has the ability to do it, and if he doesn't, well, who will? His obvious warmth also makes it easy for others to place their own trusts in them. While the people he's usually around tend to be more secretive, it's clear that, should they ever wish to open up to Danny, he'd be a good choice of person to open up to.

  • Danny is highly disciplined. With fifteen years spent under the watchful eyes of warrior monks, Danny learned quickly that you reap what you sow, and the only way to achieve anything is to earn it. He worked hard to catch up to the other boys his age. It helped him develop his work ethic and his focus, and he became devoted to seeing things through. One of his major motivators is when other people tell him that he can't. It was his strong will and perseverance that saw him become the Iron Fist (a title never before given to An Outsider). This life also taught him how to be humble. Danny is sometimes blind to the privilege he has because he sees it as inconsequential, unimportant. He'd be happy simply to have food and a place to sleep - he doesn't even need a roof over his head.

  • Even good people have their faults. Danny, having spent the first part of his life as an only child in a well off family, was coddled. He was sheltered from the relative harshness of the world and takes things too much to heart. When he's criticised, it sparks his petulance. He's prone to fits of sulking, particularly when he's been put in his place. He knows that he isn't perfect, but he doesn't like being called out on it. When things don't go as planned, or if he continues to run into problems, Danny can become very frustrated. Being on the emotional, or sensitive, side, he can become heated. These are times when Danny can lose his focus. The resulting anger is not unlike a temper tantrum, and it shows Danny's inexperience in life. While he is strong willed, it can easily turn into stubbornness. If Danny truly believes that his way is the right way, or the only way, he will lose his compromising nature. He has come to literal blows because of this behaviour before.

  • Like most vigilante superheroes, he has a reckless streak. Rarely does he think first. Danny opts for the punch first, ask questions later route more than he should, because he knows that gets results - and people are more likely to answer questions if they've been roughed up. The title of immortal Iron Fist, compounded with the add-ons of living weapon, enemy of the Hand, etc, has undoubtedly imbued Danny with a certain degree of invincibility. He knows he's strong and can overestimate himself. While this is usual in a bid to prove himself, he's also done it as a way to try and show off or intimidate. Fighting is all that Danny knows. It's the purpose he was given, so he takes it to heart. Combined with his tendencies to veer towards the emotional, his fight or flight reflexes can get out of hand if he forgets to check himself. He struggles with reconciling being both Danny Rand and the Iron Fist, which has led him to be in a personal limbo. He's seeking redemption for the failures only he blames himself for by trying to live up to his self-imposed expectations.

    Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping:

  • Defender of K'un-Lun. Danny is a highly skilled master in several forms of martial arts.

  • Immortal Iron Fist. He can focus his chi and his energy, turning himself (mainly his fist) into a living weapon. The power behind his punch can level concrete walls, but he can control the impact. He can also use this to aid in the healing of wounds. He can fuse his own chi with that of the wounded person, giving their body a boost towards a much faster recovery. This does drain him, and he has to take time to recharge after both fighting and healing if he uses it too much, so this is probably not a power that needs to be nerfed or altered.

  • Polyglot. On several occasions, Danny is shown to speak various dialects of the Chinese language. Given that he was raised in a remote Asian location, he has an understanding and base knowledge of other languages in the region.

  • Quick to learn. As evidenced by his ability to pick up highly stylized fighting techniques and languages, it's clear that Danny is fast to learn things. Most of this is likely due to his dedicated nature, but it demonstrates an inherent nature for picking up on new skills.

    Inventory:

  • Green hoodie with "SWEET X-MAS" on it, jeans, white sneakers.
  • Yellow bandana.

In-Game Tag If Accepted: Danny Rand: Lausanne
    Permissions for Character: Here.
Are you comfortable with prominent elements of fourth-walling?: Absolutely.
What themes of horror/psychological thrillers do you enjoy the most?: I enjoy the mystery of a good thriller, and not being able to see the obvious outcome. The sense of danger and the unknown is what I find effective. I'm the same with horror. I don't really get behind horror that relies on gore or jump scares. It's what you don't see or know that creates the scare.
Is there anything in particular you absolutely need specific content warnings for?: Anything with self-harm/self-mutilation (such as wrist cutting, scratching skin to bleeding, etc.), and rape.
    Additional Information: Nada.
